In the heart of Hveradalir geothermal area, you will find a simple and authentic Icelandic mud bathing experience. Here, mineral-rich geothermal water flows naturally from deep within the earth, carrying fine volcanic mud that settles at the bottom of the bathing pots.
Unlike large spa complexes, this is a small, family-run place built on trust, respect, and the power of nature itself. The mud baths are free of charge – visitors only pay for parking – and guests are invited to enjoy the experience responsibly.
How It Works
There are three pots: two with geothermal mud and one clean hot tub without mud. The mud naturally sinks to the bottom, and can be stirred up before bathing. If the water feels too hot, stirring will help cool it slightly.
For the best results, apply the mud to your skin and allow it to dry until it becomes lighter in color before rinsing. Guests are kindly asked to shower before entering the baths and to avoid going directly from a mud pot into the clean tub without rinsing first.
Natural Wellness
The geothermal mud has been tested and is known for its skin-supporting properties. Rich in natural minerals, it may help cleanse and soften the skin, support circulation, and soothe tired muscles and joints.
As with all natural geothermal baths, temperature and conditions may vary depending on weather and geothermal activity. This is nature in its raw form — simple, grounding, and deeply Icelandic.
A Place Built with Care
