Reykjadalur Hot Spring Valley – Hike & Natural Hot River
Reykjadalur Hot Spring Valley is one of Iceland’s most popular geothermal hiking destinations, located just outside Hveragerði in South Iceland. Known for its naturally heated river, Reykjadalur offers a scenic hike through a steaming valley of bubbling springs, colorful hills, and panoramic mountain views.
The hike to the hot river takes approximately 45–60 minutes each way and follows a well-marked trail suitable for most visitors with moderate fitness. Along the route, you’ll pass geothermal vents, mud pools, and small waterfalls before reaching the wooden boardwalks that provide access to the warm river bathing areas.
Reykjadalur pairs perfectly with a visit to Hveradalir Geothermal Area and Mud Baths.
